Canada has taken a pro-immigration stance for many years to supplement its aging population and address labor demands. Canada has set up many pathways to help newcomers immigrate to Canada, making it easy for them to settle and integrate into Canadian society. Canada is renowned for its diverse and multicultural population, with people from over 200 countries making Canada their home. This creates a rich and inclusive society where everyone is welcome. Canada is one of the safest countries in the world, with low crime rates and a stable political system. Canadians value democracy and have the freedom to express their political opinions and bring about change.
The Express Entry program is an online system that manages immigration applications for skilled workers in Canada, which includes three immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program. To determine eligibility for one of these programs, applicants can answer a few questions or review the detailed requirements. Applicants are then ranked in the Express Entry pool using a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and invited to apply based on their CRS score. Applicants must get their documents ready, fill out a profile, and submit their application within 60 days if invited to apply. The application processing time is usually 6 months or less.
The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is a process for international students to apply for a study permit in Canada. Students from specific countries who meet the eligibility criteria can get their study permit faster, with a processing time of 20 days. The eligibility requirements include being a legal resident of one of the designated countries, having an acceptance letter from a designated learning institution, and providing proof of tuition payment, a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAD 10,000, and other required documents. Students may also need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA). The Government may request additional documents that could cause a delay in processing time.
The Global Skills Strategy (GSS) program offers faster processing for foreign nationals who want to work in Canada, with a 2-week processing time for work permit applications. Eligibility for the program depends on whether or not you require a labour market impact assessment (LMIA). An employer-specific work permit and an open work permit are the two types of work permits available, and they each have their own specific requirements. The program is aimed at skill type 0 (managerial) or skill level A (professional) jobs in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.
To resettle in Canada as a refugee, you must first be referred by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), a designated referral organization, or a private sponsorship group. You cannot apply directly to the Canadian government as a refugee. There are two refugee classes, the Convention Refugee Abroad Class and the Country of Asylum Class. If you fall under the Convention Refugee Abroad Class, you can be sponsored by the Canadian government, a group of people or an organization, or a mix of both. If you fall under the Country of Asylum Class, you can only be privately sponsored. You must have the UNHCR, a referral organization, or a private sponsorship group refer you to come to Canada.
